ACT V
"As many of us have passed into the new area behind the iron doors, there was one of us who knew that not everyone was going to make it." Sai thought to himself as he passed through the iron door.
Sai and John moved up front to cover the doorway. Sai signaled Imeon and Kenny to wait in the back, behind them. As Sai went in, he observed the dimly lit room. The room contained several smaller glass containers with light projectors in them, similar to the stasis chamber Sai found with Terra in his vision. As he moved closer to examine it, he noticed the glass was fogged up and soon felt the chilling aura from the glass. As he began to wipe the fog off, he noticed something organic inside and quickly cleared it up.
As soon as Sai finished wiping the top part off, John, who was next to him at the time, fell to the ground in shock at what would appear to be a mutated person with a green-brownish flesh with a deformed head and body. On its right arm, it was devoid of flesh and only showed parts of its hand covered in a strange, boney shell with a large spear-like bone in front of the shell. On the left arm it was covered heavily in flesh but instead of a hand it had some sort of four large tentacles attached to it's stomp like arm. The legs were long and bend as if they were designed to jump high.
John spoke, "What the ^*$ is that!" After seeing the specimen and asking Sai what he thought. From what Sai was able to observe he concluded a theory that this specimen was some sort of a byproduct due to long term effects of the Mortifilia implanted in human test subjects. Whether this was an intended objective or simply a mistake to learn from. For whatever the reason was, it fueled Sai with enough motivation to press forward and rescue Terra. Sai decided it was best not to tell the others about what the two had just seen. John and Sai went back to tell the others the area was clear and told them to quickly follow them to the next room.
The group passed into the next area and found the lab that Terra was supposed to be in. In the lab that they had entered, Kenny noticed a M9 combat shotgun along with two boxes of shells in a glass case. Kenny ran to the glass case and smashed it opened with his metal rod. He then said, "Now this is some serious firepower." He then gave Sai the metal rod. Sai saw the stasis chamber with Terra in it, then he rushed up to the glass and located the control panel on the side. He quickly looked at the time display-three minutes left till the Mortifilia spores became adult form. Sai knew he had to move fast in order to remove the spores from her. He quickly scanned the panel to locate the spore extraction; "If this machine can inject, why can't it extract as well?" Sai then pressed the button for the extraction process to begin in the stasis chamber. While the chamber was proceeding, the mic system turned on and his voice echoed throughout the room. The voice said, "It is too late to save yourself and you shall all die now." After that statement, an emergency red light started to spin over their heads and a computerized voice said, "-Containment of specimen one through 30 has been released, containment doors will close in ten minutes-"
Kenny said out loud along with John, "That is so f***ing B.S. come on Sai hurry up I don't think we will have much time."
Sai replied, "Give me two more minutes and Terra will be out."
Sai looked around and found some chemicals and some torches along with ion-null batteries. He figured he could make a bomb by combining the chemical liquids together to form a liquid base; then by getting a test tube and filling it with a chemical compound to form the chemical filler. And the last part in the creation of a bomb was the use of a thin metal line that could transfer the fire into the chemical filler, which would then begin to create a chemical reaction inside the bomb. By doing this it would cause the chemical body to fuse with the filler to explode. So, after this, Sai finished making about three bombs. Sai laid several chemical canisters at each corner of the room. He sprayed the chemical canisters with gasoline and made a trail to the back of the room.
After Sai finished his preparation, the stasis chamber was almost finished with the extraction. At the same time John and Kenny heard movement near the metal door. John yelled out to Sai, "Here they come!" and told Kenny next to him to push the table in front of the door to buy them some time. The stasis chamber finished the extraction process and the glass door slid open allowing Terra to fall to the floor "tired as hell". Sai managed to quickly grab her before she fell to the ground.
At the moment, the mutants reached the door and started to pound at it. It only took them less than ten second to penetrate the steel door. John and Kenny had already started to unload their ammo at the incoming hordes. Sai lit one of the bombs he made and tossed it into the rush hordes. There were shells flying all over the ground and the smell of gunpowder in the thick mucky air from the large carnage. Sai yelled out to everyone to start running to the back door. Unfortunately, the door was locked. Imeon stated that she would be able to picklock it, if she were to have a reel of wire. Sai looked around for anything that might work and to his luck he found the reel. Unfortunately, the reel was right next to the hordes entrance, but Sai figured that if John and Kenny could cover him, he might be able to make it. Sai immediately ran to the reel to pick it up and ran back, but one of the mutants noticed him and tried to jump him. John immediately aimed the pistol at the mutant's head and decapitated the mutant. Sai said, "Thanks that was a close one!" Sai then threw the reel to Imeon and she began to work. After that statement, three mutants jumped forward and landed on top of John and started to pierce John's body with their spear bone-like weapon. At the same time John screamed out in anguish as the mutants began to devour through him. Kenny turned his shotgun around and shot all of them off of John. Sai quickly rushed up to John's body and dragged his half living body to the back door near Terra. John was in a bloody state and Sai asked Terra if she could stop his bleeding. At the same time, he took John's pistol, then unloaded the clip to see how much was left. Only three rounds were left in the clip. Sai asked Kenny how many shells were left in his shotgun. Kenny replied, "Only eight shells left."
Imeon who at the time was picking the lock, would finish in about 20 more seconds. In the mean time, Sai and Kenny held the hordes back. After 20 seconds of shooting about, Imeon managed to finish picking the lock.
Sai yelled to Kenny, "Get them out of here now! I'll stay back to buy you guys some time to escape!"
Kenny replied, "No way man I'm not about to let you die here! And beside you're the one who saved us in the first place."
Sai replied, "Alright get everyone out and I'll follow behind."
Kenny quickly fell back to the backdoor and told Imeon and Terra to carry John out while Sai hold off the hordes. The four people all went through the backdoor and then Sai followed them. Sai ran to Terra and kissed her, then said, "Goodbye." Then all of a sudden he went back and smashed the backdoor lock. Sai knew he couldn't active the bomb without someone lighting the wire. He fired the pistol's last three rounds to ignite the bomb. Then after a second the ground around the lab began to shake hard and fast.
Then a wave of hot air raced past the last remaining survivors. The survivors continued on through the dark passage and soon Kenny discovered a way out to the surface. The rest of the survivors quickly follow Kenny, but only one looked back. Terra sheared some tears, prayed for Sai to return to them, and then walked away from the tunnel. Just as she started to walk in the other direction, she heard some grunts behind her. As soon as she does this, Sai comes out wounded. Sai slowly moved forward held his side with his left arm and moved forward with his right arm to the wall. Then the rest of the survivors rushed over to Sai. Terra then gave Sai a hard slap to the side of his face.
Terra crying said, "Don't ever do that again! I though we lost you back there!" After that, she cried on his mostly burned shoulder.
Sai afterwards replied, "OH!! I'm sorry but it was the only way to save you guys and especially you Terra. It would of hurt me even more if you got hurt again. That I wasn't able to protect you." At the same time held Terra in his arms.
With that final statement the survivors left the area. After that horrendous incident, they hurried to the police station and told their story about the event. When the police and some government officials arrived to the area. They discover there were some evidences of an underground laboratory along with some of the dead humanoid mutants that they describe to the police about. Unfortunately, the police weren't able to locate any another bodies that were describe as the dark figure. After that event, life started to return back to normal. Except the five strangers had become friends with each other. Sai and Terra have decided to pursue a relationship. John and Kenny had went their separate ways but still kept contact with each other. Imeon had became increasingly more hostile to men larger than her.
